A two-dimensional eddy current model using thin inductors

چکیده
We derive a mathematical model for eddy currents in two dimensional geometries where the conductors are thin domains. We assume that the current flows in the x3direction and the inductors are domains with small diameters of order O(ǫ). The model is derived by taking the limit ǫ → 0. A convergence rate of O(ǫα) with 0 < α < 1/2 in the L–norm is shown as well as weak convergence in the W 1,p spaces for 1 < p < 2.

متن کاملSubproblem h-Conform Magnetodynamic Finite Element Formulation for Accurate Model of Multiply Connected Thin Regions
Abstract. A subproblem h-conform eddy current finite element method is proposed for correcting the inaccuracies inherent to thin shell models. Such models replace volume thin regions by surfaces but neglect border e↵ects in the vicinity of their edges and corners. The developed surface-to-volume correction problem is defined as a step of the multiple subproblems applied to a complete problem, c...
متن کاملA Thin Plate Model for Predicting Rotating Losses in Magnetic Bearings
Previously, thin plate assumptions have been used to obtain a one-dimensional eddy current model for predicting the stationary, transformer-type losses in magnetic bearings built out of laminated material. Using similar assumptions as in the 1-D eddy current model, rotating losses can be predicted for a laminated heteropolar radial magnetic bearing. The thin plate model of rotating losses yield...
متن کاملPhysical Modeling of Spiral Inductors on Silicon
This paper presents a physical model for planar spiral inductors on silicon, which accounts for eddy current effect in the conductor, crossover capacitance between the spiral and center-tap, capacitance between the spiral and substrate, substrate ohmic loss, and substrate capacitance. The model has been confirmed with measured results of inductors having a wide range of layout and process param...
متن کاملAnalysis of Eddy-Current Losses Over Conductive Substrates with Applications to Monolithic Inductors and Transformers
In this paper, a closed-form integral representation for the eddy-current losses over a conductive substrate is presented. The results are applicable to monolithic inductors and transformers, especially when such structures are realized over an epitaxial CMOS substrate. The technique is verified against measured results from 100 MHz to 14 GHz for spiral inductors.
